Tuttavista

Nearby Monte Tuttavista

The Tuttavista, at 805m above sea level, is well worth a visit. The easiest way to get there by car is via Galtelli, as it is well signposted. Of course, you can also hike a little way up from the foot of the mountain in the beautiful shady pine forest. From the top you have a wonderful view of the inland as well as the entire coast and the Gulf of Orosei.

Su Gorropu & Flumineddu

River and canyon hike

With vertical walls up to 500 meters high, the Gola di Gorropu in Sardinia is not only one of the deepest gorges in Europe, but also one of the most impressive due to its location. The relatively easy day hike to the gorge is worthwhile for anyone looking for a challenge as well as an exceptionally appealing natural backdrop.

Source “su Gologone”

Refreshing spring water

The spring is located near Oliena in a beautiful park and is definitely worth a visit. You can also indulge yourself in the excellent restaurant of the same name.

Cala Luna

Perfect for snorkeling

There are three ways to get there: By boat from Cala Gonone. During the season, boats leave for Cala Luna every 30 minutes. They usually make a stopover at the Grotta del Bue Marino. This is a beautiful stalactite cave that can only be reached by sea.
On foot from Cala Fuili. Drive south from Cala Gonone on the coastal road to Cala Fuili. From there, take the steps down into the valley and back up on the other side. This takes about one and a half hours.
From Teletottes through the gorge to the cala. This is a challenging trekking tour.

Orientale Sarda

The curvy SS125

The winding SS125 (Orientale Sarda) country road leads over the 1017 m high Genna-Silana Pass between Dorgali and Baunei and delights mountain lovers and motorcyclists alike. Once carved into the rock by Piedmontese coal merchants, the well-developed route now offers spectacular views and numerous vantage points. The Silana Pass offers a breathtaking view over Sardinia’s mountains. Nearby is the impressive Gorroppu Gorge, one of the deepest in Europe.
The more adventurous can also explore the cliffs around Cala Gonone – by land or boat – and discover some of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia, such as Cala Goloritzè or Cala Luna.

Archeology

For archaeologists or those interested in archaeology, Sardinia really has a lot to offer. There are still around 7000 Nuragic towers on the island (Nuragics – indigenous people of Sardinia). There are also many traces from Phoenician and Roman times. The most interesting places near Orosei are certainly:

Tharros Phoenician-Roman city near Oristano (west coast)
Monte Tiscali in the Supramonte mountains. The Nuragic village of Tiscali is located in the interior of a truncated cone-shaped hill. It can be reached from the “Su Gologone” spring, among other places
Serra e Orrios is a very well-preserved Nuragic village near Dorgali.
Giant tombs, nuragic towers and domus de janas (fairy houses) can be found near Orosei and the surrounding area.
